IWD 2024 – #InspireInclusion

International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on March 8th. This special day is dedicated to honouring the achievements of women throughout history and advocating for gender equality. This year’s theme is “Inspire Inclusion,” which is a call to action for people from all over the world to work towards creating a more inclusive and equitable society.

International Women’s Day has a long and rich history that dates back to the early 1900s when women in the United States and Europe began organizing for better working conditions and the right to vote. In 1911, the first International Women’s Day was held and since then, it has become a global movement, with people from all walks of life coming together to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.

Despite the progress made, we still face many challenges in the fight for gender equality. Women still face discrimination, harassment, and violence in their daily lives and are underrepresented in many areas of society, from politics to business to the arts. However, we also have countless examples of women who have broken through these barriers and paved the way for others to follow.

On this International Women’s Day, let us be inspired by these women and commit ourselves to creating a more inclusive and equitable world. Let us celebrate the achievements of those who came before us and work towards a future where women of all races, classes, and backgrounds can thrive.

We all have a role to play in this work. Whether it’s advocating for policies that support women’s rights, mentoring young women in our communities, or simply speaking out against sexism and discrimination, we can all make a difference.

So, let us take this International Women’s Day as an opportunity to inspire inclusion in our own lives and the world around us. Let us stand together in solidarity with women everywhere and work towards a future where gender equality is a reality for all.
