Christmas Message – 2015
Wishing you the best this holidays and for the New Year ahead!
The Silver Lining Foundation extends a Happy Holidays to you.
As the year comes to a close, we reminisce on the experiences had, lessons learnt and lives touched. We remember the joy of brightening others’ lives, bearing each others’ burdens, easing each others’ loads, and supplanting empty hearts and lives with gifts of love and support.
2015 has been another whirlwind of success for the Foundation and, by extension, our supporters, well-wishers and beneficiaries. In April, we launched our short film “A Safe Space” which was a sponsorship of the US Embassy, and was attended by Charge D’Affaires Margaret Diop, and former Minister of Public Administration Mrs. Carolyn Seepersad-Bachan (see speech http:/www.silverliningtt.com/a-safe-space-ministers-speech/ ). The film went on to be accepted into the Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival (TTFF) in September, and was well-received by the public.
Our ongoing book project, “Stories Break Silence“, is currently accepting submissions which can be made on our website or emailed to us at thesilverliningfoundation@gmail.com. Also in progress is our National School Climate Survey on Bullying, which will soon be made available online for completion.
The coming year 2016 will be no less successful. In addition to the completion of the aforementioned projects, we aim to begin new projects and avenues for those in need. A “Safe Space” programme is currently being designed and organized for launch at UTT San-Fernando campus. “Safe Space” was created as group discussions and support became a necessity in order to reach out to discriminated individuals on a personal level. It is our aim to continually expand “Safe Space,” and increase the number of safe spaces for individuals to meet and be assisted by peers and professionals. Our film “A Safe Space” will soon be advertised for community screenings so be sure to look out for a screening in your area.
Friends, we wish to express our utmost gratitude to you for a wonderful year. You are the silver lining we often need to carry on in our efforts to support, educate and advocate. Thank you for helping us bring more hope, empathy and and kindness to our country, one classroom at a time.
May your Christmas star shine the light to a Bright and Prosperous New Year!
