Christmas Message 2014

Christmas Message 2014

Do you know what our most cherished gift is? YOU.

Throughout all of 2014, you’ve stood at our side in the push to end bullying and discrimination.

We welcomed new members and we joined with new ambassadors who fought on all levels- from the boardroom to the classroom and even the online chatroom.

The Foundation saw an expansion of the Safe Space initiative to different tertiary educational institutions and the formation of the new anti-bullying coalition, spearheaded by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) and secondary school students, that’s set to tackle bullying on all fronts in 2015.

It was also a red letter day when we joined with local Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) advocacy groups and the British, Dutch and Canadian foreign missions as they lowered the Union Jack to hoist the LGBT pride flag in observance of the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia. Coupled with the many progressive and positive contributions during the Consultations on Constitutional Reform, it is obvious that the tide is turning and the way is clear for future strides in equality.

We also remember the celebrated visit of Judy and Dennis Shepard, Matthew Shepard’s parents, to these shores. Facilitated by the US Embassy in Port-of-Spain, the Foundation was honored to meet with the Shepard’s and enlist them in a project that will be showcased early in the new year.

We have been blessed to have these many positive experiences and strong support to weather all the storms.

2015 is set to be a very interesting one as we accelerate our efforts in support, education and advocacy.

We hope you’ll be there with us.

Merry Christmas to you all and abundant blessings for the new year.
